Questions and answers you may want to know...
I work night shifts. Do I need to change the dosage?
-
If you work a permanent night shift, we suggest you take the "night-time" dose at your bedtime (i.e. just before going to bed after returning home from your night shift, and take the "morning" dose ideally 8 or 9 hours (but a minimum of 6 hrs) after that, followed by a meal or snack. For example, if your shift was from 11pm-7am and you normally sleep from 8am - 2pm you would take your 'evening' dosage just before 7.30am and the 'morning' dosage after you awake at 2pm (and half an hour before having something to eat as you always take Nicobrevin on an empty stomach).
If you are on rotating shifts, it is a good plan to begin your Nicobrevin course during a week of day shifts so that you are following the normal dosage instructions.
After the first week of the course, the dosage reduces to one capsule at bedtime and one capsule in the morning (or 8 or 9 hours after the bedtime dose if working nights that week) so this makes it easier to follow if you are doing shift-work that week.

I'm pregnant - can I use Nicobrevin?
- Nicobrevin is not recommended during pregnancy. There is no evidence to suggest that Nicobrevin may harm a foetus and much evidence to show that smoking will. (2004 Surgeon General's Report: Impact on Unborn Babies, Infants, Children, and Adolescents).
After examining the formula, some Doctors have advised the use of Nicobrevin because it enables the woman to quit immediately, without distress, to the immediate benefit of the baby. It is an individual decision to be made with the guidance of your doctor and/or health professional.

I'm breast-feeding - can I use Nicobrevin?
- Tests have shown that Quinine, one of the ingredients of Nicobrevin, has appeared in breastmilk when given in other products. Although it is not believed that the small quantities involved in Nicobrevin are likely to affect the baby, it is recommended that breastfeeding mothers should not use Nicobrevin. Whilst Nicobrevin is not recommended whilst breast-feeding, there is no evidence to suggest that it may harm a baby and much evidence to show that smoking whilst breast-feeding will.(2004 Surgeon General's Report: Impact on Unborn Babies, Infants, Children, and Adolescents).

Will I put on weight?
- No. Nicotine is an appetite suppressant and when you quit, your appetite returns to normal. Often smokers substitute food for cigarettes in the process of giving up and this is why they may put on weight. However, if you eat sensibly and do some sort of regular exercise, you will keep your weight under control.

I'm a very heavy smoker, 30 to 50 a day. Do I need to change the dosage?
-
No, you do not need to change the dosage but this is something we can discuss with you. As a heavy smoker, your body is used to very high level of nicotine and so to quit smoking immediately can sometimes be too much of a strain on the system. We therefore recommend that instead you reduce the number of cigarettes smoked from Day one to the absolute minimum per day and continue reducing the number each day until you are down to zero cigarettes . Hopefully, this should be by Day 7 and then you continue as a non-smoker for the rest of the 28-day course with the support of Nicobrevin.
Please call our Support line below to discuss dosage or if you require help.

I'm a social smoker (light smoker) - do I need to change the dosage?
- No.
Nicobrevin is formulated to alleviate the unpleasant nicotine
withdrawal symptoms normally associated with giving up smoking and
breaking one's addiction to nicotine.
Even if you are a light
smoker, the withdrawal symptoms experienced can be just as difficult to
cope with as those experienced by a heavy smoker, so the dosage remains
the same for all smokers.

Will I need more than one course?
- No, provided that you don't smoke during the course.
When
you start your course of Nicobrevin it is imperative that you follow
the directions for use and do not smoke as the product will not be able
to perform its function of alleviating withdrawal symptoms because you
are continuing to feed nicotine into your system.
Naturally, your resolve to quit must be strong so that you do not fall into the trap of having a cigarette from sheer habit.
There
is no harm, however, of taking a second course but ensure that your
commitment to quit is strong before starting another course!

Why do I take 2 capsules at night and only 1 capsule during the day?
- You do this for two reasons.
Firstly, one of the most common
withdrawal symptoms experienced during the first week (generally) is
sleeplessness which the mild sedative in Nicobrevin's formula, Menthyl
Valerate, helps to combat.
Secondly, the 2 capsules at night during the first week help alleviate the morning craving that most smokers experience.
The
reason for this is because when a person smokes, the nicotine in his or
her bloodstream is metabolised during the night and, and as a result,
he or she experiences a craving for a cigarette first thing in the
morning to replenish the nicotine level.
When a person starts Nicobrevin they begin the course by taking 2 capsules at night before
they go to bed and must cease smoking from that point onwards.
Obviously they still have nicotine present in their bloodstream and one
of the functions of Quinine in Nicobrevin's formula is to slow the
release of nicotine to a gradual decline and thereby, eliminate craving.

What if I have a cigarette or a puff of one whilst on the course?
- You will seriously reduce your chance of success so try to avoid any
situations which may cause you to be tempted to have a cigarette.
Nicobrevin's formula is designed to alleviate the unpleasant nicotine withdrawal
symptoms and if you re-introduce nicotine into your system during the
course, your body will not produce the necessary withdrawal symptoms for
Nicobrevin to work on, so you are therefore wasting not only the
product, but your time and money!
Be strong, be committed, be successful!

Can I drink alcohol whilst taking Nicobrevin?
- Yes - but be warned! Just a few drinks can undermine your determination
and strength of resolve to remain smoke-free. Even one cigarette or a
puff can be enough to lessen your chance of success. So avoiding
alcohol in the first few days of the course is recommended

Do I need to finish the course?
- Yes.
Due to the effectiveness of Nicobrevin's formula it can
sometimes seem to a person that, after only a short period of time of
being on the course, he or she could cope without taking any further
capsules. This is a common trap.
Nicobrevin is a 28-day
scientifically-prepared formula which supports a person's system
therapeutically throughout the transition of being nicotine-dependent to
nicotine-free.
By interrupting or ceasing the 28-day
therapeutic support mid-way through the course, one is reducing one's
chances of success considerably.
